INTERNATIONAL GREEK LANGUAGE AND CULTURE SCHOOL IN SANTORINI
After 22 years of teaching Greek as a foreign language on the islands of Ikaria and Lesvos and in Athens, the Hellenic culture centre opened its international Greek language and culture school in Santorini in 2014. Santorini is one of the most beautiful of all the Greek islands with an emotive and evocative atmosphere. Our school is based in Megalochori, a traditional village with bright Cycladic colours. A lively group of people from all over the world speak and express themselves in Greek. They sing, they dance and they participate in the cultural life of the island, inspired by a thirst for knowledge of, and respect and love for, the Greek language and culture. The spirit of Greek tradition and the restlessness of modern Greece come to life through sounds and words expressing universal and timeless values as conceived by the Greek feeling. The KALEIDOSCOPIO series aims at providing non-Greek speaking students with as complete and multifaceted picture of contemporary Greek reality as it is possible.
It aspires to touch upon the anxieties, joys, enthusiasm, fears, achievements and challenges experienced by Greeks today through the presentation of aspects of the Greek society. Furthermore, the books aim at rendering students capable to communicate and have their knowledge certified by sitting in the Greek Language Certification exams of the Centre of Greek Language (KEG) or other organisations/institutes, which organise, or are about to organise similar Certification exams in accordance to the European Languages Portfolio and the Centre for the Greek Language levels as described by the presidential decree published in the governmental gazette (Π.Δ. 60/30-6-2010 ΦΕΚ A’ 98) (6 levels).
